I've never paid a power bill.
Fifteen years living off-grid and more than seventeen years working
hands-on with solar. I'm Rudi Fowler.
How I got here
I am a Fredericton native and the founder of East Coast Sun. Living off-grid
taught me early that solar is not an abstract technology. It is the system
that has to carry a real home through dark mornings, winter storms, and the
ordinary demands of daily life.
That lived experience grew into hands-on work across New Brunswick. I have
worked with residential and commercial rooftops, ground mounts, trackers,
3-phase projects, grid-tied systems, hybrid systems, and fully off-grid
installations. East Coast Sun exists to make that experience useful: explain
the options clearly, design around the real property, and help people decide
whether solar is actually a good fit.
Advice before equipment
I start with the roof, shading, power use, electrical service, and what the
customer wants to accomplish. If solar is not a fit, I will say so. Published
customer reviews repeatedly mention clear explanations, realistic numbers,
and not being pushed to buy equipment they do not need.
Living off-grid
Running my own home on solar and storage for fifteen years has taught me
how systems behave in a New Brunswick winter, what loads matter during an
outage, and why storage has to be sized from real usage. That experience
goes into grid-tied, hybrid, and off-grid designs alike.

How I work
It starts with a conversation about your power use and what you want the
system to accomplish. Then comes a property and electrical review: roof,
shading, panel, meter, and any site constraints that affect the design.
The written proposal shows the panel layout, equipment, expected production,
consumption offset, price, assumptions, and warranties. If you proceed,
East Coast Sun coordinates the utility application, permitting,
installation, inspection, connection, and monitoring setup.
Support does not end when the system turns on. One published customer review
specifically notes that East Coast Sun continued checking in months after
installation and responded quickly to later questions.
What you can expect
- No high-pressure sales or artificial urgency.
- No recommendation to buy equipment the project does not need.
- No old incentive figures presented as though they are still available.
- Equipment, assumptions, and warranties stated clearly in writing.
